Simple Questions you might have about yacht Medical Supplies!

When you set out on the sea apart from food and medicine you also need medicines to survive on sea. One of the most basic questions when it comes to yacht medical kit is what to carry and what to avoid.

Yacht medical supplies include both preventative and curative medicines. There are yacht medical supply services available but it is also important that you carry some of the basic medicines while setting out on the sea. Having your own boat medical kit means you are self-sufficient and well equipped in dealing with medical situations without wasting any time.

UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) lists three categories of first aid kits - MCA A, MCA B and MCA C. These are categorised based on the number of nautical hours spent away from the shore and the complexity of the kit depends upon the time of return of the ship to the shore.

1) Vitamin C and Anti Nausea medicines – sea sickness can be a common thing when you are out on the water. Vitamin C tablets, capsules, can help boost your immunity, take care of your hair and skin while you in the salty ocean air and it also helps in digestion keeping sea sickness at bay.

2) Band aids – cuts and bruises on the ship or at the beach are uninvited guests. Just strap a waterproof adhesive band aid around the cut and you are good to go in the salty water or just go about your regular activities.

3) Anti allergens – you may want to or have to experiment with a bunch different food. Having anti allergens such Benadryl will aid if you happen to have allergies.

4)  Paracetamol – Paracetamol helps in dealing with pain and fever.

5) Forceps and scissors – you never know what you may need them for. Hopefully not something too bizarre.

Apart from the above, never underestimate the water consumption on a long voyage at sea. Water is one of the most important essentials when out in the ocean, also ironical because you are surrounded all around by water yet have none to drink.
