Malaria: Causes, Symptoms & Treatment

Malaria is a life-threatening infection, which is caused by the bite of an Anopheles mosquito. An infected mosquito contains Plasmodium parasite and when it bites a human, the parasite is released into the bloodstream.

After entering the bloodstream, the parasite is transmitted to the liver, where they go through the maturation process for several days, after which the mature parasite is ready to infect the red blood cells by entering the bloodstream. The parasite can multiply immensely in just 48-72 hours causing infected cells to split open.

Malaria is usually found in tropical and subtropical area as they provide the ideal climate for it to multiply and live. According to the WHO, more than 216 million cases were reported in just 2016, and recommends using generic Malarone as a malaria treatment.

Malaria Treatment

According to the professionals at ANP Pharma, if a person is infected with the parasite P.falciparum, it is essential to get admitted to the hospital. If in some cases, the infection cannot be cured due to parasitical resistance to the drugs, the doctor will run tests to determine the specific type of parasite that you have to change your medications.

However, in most cases, generic Malarone will work effortlessly. Moreover, if the patient is reported to have P. ovale or P. vivax, the parasite can exist in the body for longer period of time and can cause relapse in the infection after reactivating at a later stage. There is no vaccination available for malaria, therefore doctors rely on anti-malaria medicine to treat malaria.
